Nettle & Seaweed hársápustykki - fyrir úfið krullað hár
Seaweed Powder is a rich source of vitamins including vitamins B12 (not found in land plants), vitamin E, amino acids, minerals, trace elements, and other nutrients. It makes for an effective cleansing and exfoliating agent.
Peppermint acts as an astringent, normalizing both dry and oily hair. When applied to oily skin or scalp it helps reduce any excess oil. An oily scalp can lead to greasy hair, and the peppermint helps to regulate your scalp’s oil production and eliminate the grease. Peppermint oil can soothe skin irritations and relieve pain and itching. This makes it ideal for those who have dry or irritated scalps, as it can help fight dandruff and eliminate the itching associated with this condition.
Nettle increases blood flow to your scalp. It also oxygenates your hair follicles and strengthens hair fibers, promoting healthier, shinier, fuller hair. It is also used to treat dandruff.
We have used our own nettle and peppermint infusion grown in my vegetable garden in Cumbria.
HOW TO USE OUR SHAMPOO BARS
When you first switch to our natural shampoo bars, you may go through what is called a “transition phase”. During this time your hair may feel oily, and feel it has a waxy residue on it.
WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?
There are three reasons this happens:
You may live in a hard water area.
Conventional shampoos and conditioners contain silicone to make your hair feel soft and look shiny. These products leave residues that natural products find hard to remove.
Conventional shampoos tend to remove your natural oils causing your scalp to react and over-produce oils to compensate. So because natural shampoo bare are more gentle it may take time for your scalp to adjust to a new washing method.
USING YOUR SHAMPOO BAR Solid shampoo bare are more concentrated that normal shampoos.
Lather the shampoo bar in your hands and apply the foam to your hair and wash as you would a liquid shampoo. Rinse and repeat concentrating on getting your whole head and scalp washed.
You may need a vinegar rinse afterwards, it will balance the Ph (soap is a alkaline and our skin is slightly acidic). It will help remove any residue and leave your hair shiny. Happy Zero waste and natural hair to you. xx
Please don’t use your shampoo bar once or twice and decide you don’t like it, everyone’s hair is different and it may take a little time for your hair to adjust. It may take up to two weeks to rid your hair from all the residue left over from the chemicals in the commercial shampoos. Give your hair time to adjust to the lack of chemicals and hair product build up. But stick it out and get through this period and you will realise just how much healthier your hair is, it will be soft and shiny in no time.
